The Centre for Southeast European Studies of the University of Graz coordinates the Doctoral Program “Europeanization Processes in Southeastern Europe”. It offers regular doctoral colloquia and events for students and researchers at the University of Graz working on Southeastern Europe. The Doctoral Program is organising its annual doctoral research retreat on 5 and 6 December 2022 at the Retzhof in southern Styria. The Participation of upto 9 doctoral students from the Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia) is funded. The Deadline for Application ist 1st November 2022.

The Free State of Bavaria will probably again award one-year scholarships in the academic year 2023/24 to graduates (with corresponding citizenship) from Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine and Hungary. The scholarship is intended to finance postgraduate studies (e.g. master's degree), a research stay or a doctorate at a state or state-supported university or college in Bavaria. The application deadline is 1.12.2022.

The Viadrina Center B/ORDERS IN MOTION, in cooperation with the international research networks “Borders in Globalization“– 21st Century borders (BIG) and "Transfrontier Euro-Institut Network" (TEIN) calls for Papers. The international conference „Contesting 21st Century B/Orders” aims to discuss how societal orders in the 21st century are changing through new forms of the border and boundary drawing and to investigate how the borders of the contemporary world are shaped. The Deadline is 31st October 2022.

Das Deutsche Kulturforum Östliches Europa schreibt den Georg Dehio-Kulturpreis 2023 aus. Mit dem Georg Dehio-Kulturpreis würdigt das Kulturforum besondere Leistungen von Menschen und Institutionen, die in herausragender Weise dazu beigetragen haben, das gemeinsame kulturelle Erbe jener Regionen des östlichen Europa, in denen im Laufe der Geschichte auch Deutsche gelebt haben, zu erforschen, zu bewahren, einem interessierten Publikum zu präsentieren und damit den interkulturellen Dialog und das gegenseitige Verständnis zu fördern. Vorschläge können bis zum 31.10.2022 eingereicht werden.

Das Deutsche Kulturforum östliches Europa schreibt in Zusammenarbeit mit der Stadt Temeswar/Timișoara und dem Demokratischen Forum der Deutschen im Banat ein fünfmonatiges Stipendium aus. Gesucht wird ein/e Stadtschreiber/in für Temeswar/Timișoara. Die Ausschreibung findet im Rahmen der Ernennung Timișoaras als europäische Kulturhauptstadt statt. Die Bewerbungsfrist endet am 28. Oktober 2023.
