The Institute for Danube Swabian History and Regional Studies in Tübingen invites students (BA, MA, and doctoral students) enrolled at universities in countries in Southeastern Europe (Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia) to apply for the summer school “Migrations, Minorities, Memories: Approaches to the History and Culture of Southeastern Europe”, to be held in Tübingen between the 23rd and the 28th of July, 2023. At the centre of the program is the interdisciplinary engagement with Southeastern Europe and with its regions and states, with their history and culture from the eighteenth century up to the present. The Deadline for application is 1st May 2023.

Die Initiative Perspektive Osteuropa am Lehrstuhl für Neuere und Neueste Geschichte Osteuropas und seiner Kulturen an der Universität Passau lädt zur Teilnahme am DAAD-Sommerseminar ein. Die Präsenzveranstaltung findet vom 17. bis 21. Juli 2023 an der Universität Passau statt. In den geplanten Blockseminaren werden die Konflikte/Kriege in Osteuropa sowie im Kaukasus und die Möglichkeiten ihrer Lösung aus geschichts-, politik-, kultur-/medien- und geographiewissenschaftlicher Sicht näher behandelt. Die Bewerbungsfrist endet am 31.3.2023.

The Department of Sociology/Sociology of Gender and the Centre for Southeast European Studies at the University of Graz are calling for submissions for the conference "Solidarity and Voluntarism in State-Socialist Societies". It will take place in Graz from 12-13 September. The topic of the conference will be practices of solidarity in relation to voluntarism and voluntary organisations under socialism. There will be a focus on continuity as well as change in the pre- and post-socialist era and the multi-layered motivations of institutions and citizens. The deadline for application is 15 March 2023.

The Department of Cultural Anthropology / Cultural History of the University of Jena calls for participation in the hybrid conference "The Balkans as a Space of Nourishment". It will take place from 16th to 18th November 2023 in Jena and online. The organisers welcome context-sensitive, site-specific accounts that explore rich history of nourishment in theory and practice across the Balkans. The deadline for application is March 31, 2023.

The Institute for Danube Swabian History and Regional Studies calls for invites applications for participation in the annual institute conference to be held in Tübingen, Germany, October 12-14, 2023.
